Spring is just around the corner, and your bedroom is the perfect starting point when it comes to shifting your home decor towards a look that reflects elements of the season. From gentle florals to lighter color palettes that reflect those blooming around us right now, there are so many ways you can embrace this season in your room. In light of the new season, I’ve curated a list of spring bedding ideas that will feel refreshing, but still fit neatly within your serene coastal escape.
In general, bedrooms should gently balance consistency with room for movement and change. The majority of items in your room should be foundational pieces that you’ll love and use for years, and a smaller selection should be simple enough to move around and change out as your tastes shift and the seasons come and go. Bedding is one of the best ways to do this. It doesn’t require a complicated renovation or a total change of color palette, yet it still has an enormous impact on the feel of your sleeping space.

I think it’s possible to have both a room that reflects the beauty of each season but feels assured in its overarching theme. If you’re reading this, you likely have similar tastes to me. You love a coastal-inspired home, and I’m so excited to show you how to continue this theme while celebrating spring—all through bedding.
Spring Bedding Essentials
Before we immerse ourselves in spring bedding ideas, I wanted to share some bedding staples that I always have on hand. I rotate these throughout the year, and knowing they’re in my linen closet makes it so easy to swap them when a season, holiday, or general weekly refresh calls for it.
If you’re writing your own list, I like to have several sheet sets on hand, a few duvet cover options (at least two so you always have one ready when you do laundry), a selection of throw pillows or throw pillow covers you can change out, a throw blanket or two, and a few sizes of pillows, including lumbar, round, square, and those for sleeping. Outside of bedding, you can gather plenty of other touches to tie together a coastal bedroom. I’ve curated a list of furniture and bedroom decor below that are perfect for exactly this.
As for where to source your bedding, these are my favorite places that consistently deliver on quality bedding that’s not only super comfortable, but extremely stylish too:
- Quince: I source so much bedding and a variety of home goods from Quince! Pillows, duvets, duvet covers, sheets, blankets, and quilts are all available at amazing prices for a very high standard of quality.
- Boll & Branch: If you’re ready to invest in high-quality bedding, bed frames, and other bedroom accessories, this brand is the place to go first. I’m in love with so many of its collections.
- Amazon: You’d be so surprised at the incredible bedding you can find on Amazon. I find duvet covers, pillows, quilts, and more here—all of which look like they’re from a high-end brand!
- Pottery Barn: This is a solid choice for basic bedding staples, like sheet sets, as well as standout throw pillows.
- McGee & Co.: I love finding decorative bits here. The brand has pretty objects for your bedside table, beautiful throw blankets, and plenty of pretty throw pillow covers too.
Spring Bedding Ideas That Work in a Coastal Bedroom
You might be wondering what separates your typical spring bedding from spring bedding that feels at home in a coastal bedroom. It’s really however you interpret this look, but I find that a coastal home leans more on lighter color palettes, natural textures, and subtler patterns. While they can feel spring-inspired (featuring florals or colors that evoke this season, for instance), bedding should also feel cohesive with the coastal elements in your room that are more permanent, such as your bed frame, bedside tables, artwork, and other characteristic features.
This doesn’t mean everything has to look beachy or always play by the coastal cottage design playbook—definitely not! It’s perfectly doable to balance both in your room, and the following five spring bedding ideas will show you exactly how to achieve this equilibrium.
Subtle Floral Bedding

Floral prints are synonymous with spring, and I’ve seen some that are beautifully rendered in the form of bedding. These are much more subtle and stylish than the ditzy prints from years ago. Block printed options, abstract patterns, and larger blooms lend more subtle texture, especially when they’re in calmer colors, like sage, mist, beige, grey, and white.
These hues also pair flawlessly with the woven textures and wooden features often found in a coastal bedroom. Altogether, you’re left with a room that feels dimensional and layered, but still completely cohesive. I think a piece of artwork above the bed that complements the bedding can also enliven a space.
Green Gingham Bedding

Gingham is such a happy pattern and feels right at home in a bedroom during spring or summer. One of my favorite spring bedding ideas is incorporating this pattern in green. A verdant palette works surprisingly well in a coastal bedroom, especially contrasted against those aforementioned washed woods and woven textures.
Paired with cream or white, this could easily be a look you enjoy for months. While green might not sound like the most coastal color, it’s one of the most flexible shades out there. Darker moss tones or lighter sage are both welcome in your serene escape. There is something earthy and grounded about green that you can’t get from many other colors.
Gentle Striped Bedding

Stripes are undeniably nautical, so they’ll always look lovely in a coastal-themed room! If you usually hesitate when it comes to bringing patterns into your home, I recommend selecting stripes (or any other print) in a lighter color, such as gray or misty blue. This way, it won’t feel distracting or overwhelm the room. When you layer it with other light hues and natural finishes, it can look just as serene as plain bedding.
Stripes also give energy and visual movement to your bed. They draw the eye in, then direct it around the room. They’re a wonderful option if you find that your room is feeling a little flat or monochromatic. Stripes are a statement, but one that even the biggest minimalism fans can get on board with.
Blue Gingham Bedding

Gingham is such a gorgeous spring pattern that it gets double recognition! As a whole, blue gingham is relatively seasonless. It can serve as your bedspread spring, winter, summer, or fall. Because of the light hue and classic pattern, it’ll blend well into your coastal surroundings. I like mixing and matching a variety of pillows with this look, from those in the exact same pattern to floral prints to a pop of dark navy.
A blue hue on your bed also draws out the warmth of your surrounding furniture. Up against the woven bench and wood bedside table in our master bedroom, our blue gingham bedding makes these other pieces feel more vibrant, which is exactly the vibe you want for spring.
Earthy Neutral Bedding

For bedding that leans more natural but doesn’t feel dark or wintery, consider a combination of light blues, greens, and neutrals. This blend is a timeless option for year-round use, but because of the touches of green, it feels refreshing and fitting for a springtime bedroom!
Choosing throw pillows in a natural texture or with floral print also creates a nature-inspired escape. I love pairing this slightly rustic but elegant bedding with a few plants in my bedroom. Whether you choose faux or real, leaves, flowers, and branches all look beautiful when paired with a bedspread that reminds you of spring’s most gorgeous offerings.
Tips for Styling Spring Bedding and Bedroom Decor
Regardless of your design style or favorite bedding preferences, these tips will help you create a bed and bedroom that align well with this cheerful season.
Look outside for inspiration.
What do you see when you peek out the window? This can help inspire how you decorate indoors. This conversation between the outside world and your bedroom design can lead to a space that feels inspired by your surroundings, and therefore calming and serene. This could look like soft layers, a color palette that reflects the one outside, and materials that are natural, such as wood, stone, and cotton.
Consider temperature and weather.
It may be getting warmer, but that doesn’t mean winter’s icy grasp won’t appear every now and then! I recommend working with layers on your bed. If you’re a warm sleeper, opt for breathable cotton or linen sheets and duvets, but have quilts, coverlets, and throw blankets at the ready so you can stay comfortable no matter what the season brings.
Update the surrounding decor.
Once your bed gets a refresh, it’s time to look at the decor and furniture around it. While you probably have a few elements that stay in your room year-round, spring is a great time to move away from the heavy textures, plants, art, and decorative objects that remind you of winter. Replace evergreens with fresh blooms, branches, and botanicals. Swap thick, wool throws and pillows for lighter alternatives. Trade out holiday-inspired pieces, vases, or art for neutral-colored items and spring-inspired designs.
Invest in quality and timeless options.
While it’s easy to buy whatever bedding is cheapest or most easily available, I recommend spending a little more time while shopping around. Be intentional with your purchases and invest in a few quality pieces that will make your sleep experience exponentially better. This could be a duvet you know you’ll use for two or three seasons out of the year, a mattress that makes sleeping much more comfortable, or a sheet set that feels great to sleep on and matches with a variety of your blankets and pillows—not just your spring bedding.
Enjoy the process!
