The fluffy bed look has been trending, and I love it! I’m often asked how I make my bed look so fluffy and cozy…and to be honest, I have a few tricks that I use to help achieve this look! Here are my go-to tips and tricks for that gorgeous fluffy bed look.

To get a good night’s sleep, you need to have two things: a good mattress and sheets. I’m very picky about my sheets! After some serious searching, I’ve found that the Brooklinen Classic Percale Core Sheet Set are hands down the best. They’re a bit pricey, but once you try them, you won’t want anything else. I also love Boll & Branch as another top choice. Right now, I’m exploring new options and can’t wait to try Quince next! After trying two mattress we landed on the Saatva Classic Plush Soft mattress. It’s supportive, so comfortable and keeps us cool at night!

Invest in a Quality Mattress Protector

The first step to achieving a fluffy bed look is to ensure you have a mattress protector! Never underestimate the importance of a mattress protector. Mattresses are a pricy investment and having the proper protection is essential for them to last longer. Personally, I love the ComfortCloud Mattress Pad.

The Key Components to a Fluffy Bed Look

The key components to a fluffy bed are a duvet, quilt, and throw blanket. This may seem like a lot of layers, especially if you sleep hot like me, but I love the soft coziness of a duvet. The duvet insert I love, and recommend the most, is the Classic Down Insert from Pottery Barn. It’s lightweight enough to use in the Summer, but still keeps you warm in the Winter. There are also some great options on Amazon! I use a thin quilt before adding the duvet. This is the step that you can truly get creative. Experiment with different colors and textures until you find the look that is right for you!

Add More Pillows

The pillows I use for sleeping are two standard pillows for a full or queen bed and three standard or two king pillows for a king-sized bed. After layering your sleeping pillows in the back, I love to add three euro pillows to a king-sized bed and then layer two king-sized pillow shams. To finish, I use a lumbar pillow or two to three 22×22 pillows in the front.

One Duvet or Two Duvets?

Another way to achieve that really fluffy bed is to use two duvet inserts instead of only one. To protect your duvet inserts, I recommend using a linen duvet cover. I love linen because it never has to be ironed or steamed. Your duvet cover can be switched throughout the year to match the season or the new color palette of your space. I love the comfy casual look that they provide, and (an added plus) linen duvets keep getting softer with age!

The Finishing Touch for a Fluffy Bed Look

For the final touch of a fluffy bed, I add a knitted throw or blanket loosely at the foot of the bed. It finishes off the bed and ties everything together for that extra cozy feel. I typically use a full or queen-sized blanket for my king-sized bed.

Decorating the Nightstand

Nightstand | Similar Lamp | Decorative Boxes | Vase

Your bedroom isn’t complete without a styled nightstand! The small decor pieces used on your nightstand (florals, greenery, candles, etc.) can be easily switched out to coordinate with the current season. The star of the nightstand is the lamp, it may take some time to find the perfect piece, but once you do it is SO worth it! I also like to add decorative boxes on the bottom shelf to store small items like a phone or laptop charger.
