Ingredients – Makes 3 dozen
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
Confectioners sugar
Directions
• Sift flour, baking soda, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and ginger on a sheet of waxed paper.
• In a medium bowl (kitchen aid mixer bowl is preferable) beat butter, sugar, and egg until light and fluffy
• Beat in flour mixture alternately with molasses. Beat well after each addition.
• Refrigerate dough covered, 1 hour
• Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
• Preheat oven to 375.
• Shape dough in 1/2 inch balls and roll in confectioners sugar. Place on cookie sheet 1 inch apart.
• Bake 8-10 minutes until light brown around the edges
• Let cool for 3-5 minutes and sprinkle with confectioners sugar
