A coffee table is more than just a functional piece, it’s a canvas for style, personality, and a cozy feel. Whether you have a textured woven table or a sleek, modern oval table, styling it thoughtfully can transform your living space. In this post, I’m sharing different ways I’ve styled two distinct coffee tables in my modern coastal home, mixing natural textures, books, greenery, and unique decorative accents to create balanced, inviting looks.

simple and natural styling

This woven coffee table adds natural texture to our modern coastal living room. I styled it with a mix of large and small neutral books, including a soft blue one for a hint of color. Two white pots in different shapes each hold a different faux plant, bringing in a touch of greenery. The overall look feels relaxed, simple, and effortlessly coastal.
creating depth and interest
This is another way I styled the woven coffee table, focusing on balance and layering for a fresh coastal feel. The white boxes add structure and subtle shine, while the white pot with a faux plant brings a natural touch to the center. Mixing books in soft and deeper tones adds visual interest, and the coasters keep it practical. On the lower shelf, a gray bowl and books create depth and anchor the look.
mixing vintage touches with coastal elements

I combined familiar pieces with new accents for a fresh feel. I kept the dark and white books, topped with a shiny vase and a larger, uniquely shaped vase in the center holding dark purple faux flowers for a vintage touch. Vintage beige coasters add warmth nearby. A ruffled stone bowl filled with grey beads sits on the big white book, adding depth. The large gray bowl, light blue book, and white book stay on the bottom to keep the base grounded and cohesive.
balancing shine and warmth with simple layers
This oval coffee table features a sleek white shiny top paired with a dark wood base, creating a modern yet warm contrast. On top, I layered grey and white books for a neutral foundation, adding a wood chain for a touch of sculptural elegance. A scalloped wicker tray holds gold candlesticks and marble coasters, blending texture with subtle luxury. To complete the look, a grey vase adds softness and ties the color palette together, balancing the clean lines with a cozy feel.
my favorite rug, planter & lounge chairs
I restyled the same oval coffee table, keeping the gray and white books as a base. On top, I added two woven candle holders for warmth and texture, placing the marble coasters directly on the table for easy access. A bulky cream-colored book adds softness, while a green handmade distressed vase filled with vintage cream flowers brings a touch of rustic charm. On the lower shelf, a unique wicker vase adds interest and complements the natural woven elements above.
