Who said you had to live by the beach to have coastal home decor? Coastal home decor captures the essence of the seaside while creating a light, airy, and relaxing atmosphere. Who wouldn’t want to feel that way each and every day? Keep scrolling to see how you can use coastal colors, textures, wall art, and more in your home!

Whether you are trying to achieve the coastal vibe or not, it’s important to begin any room styling with a base. Think of it like decorating a cake – you don’t put the sprinkles and candles on top before the icing, do you? To achieve the ‘coastal home look’, you’ll want your base to reflect a lot of whites, beiges, and grays. You can see the exact colors I chose for my home HERE.

Once you have chosen your base color, it’s time to start adding more traditional coastal colors (think blues and greens). Personally, I love using different shades of blue, especially when it comes to bedding. The fun part about adding these pops of color is that you can opt for different patterns, as well. Having several different shades of blue and patterned throw pillows catches the eye without being too overwhelming! Remember, coastal home decor is about capturing the light, airy, and relaxing essence – not overcrowding the space with furniture, colors or patterns.

PRO TIP: use faux trees and plants in different shapes and sizes to incorporate the color green into your coastal space.

wall art finds

Using coastal themed prints and paintings is a great way to ‘bring the beach home’! I love looking at blank walls as empty canvases. You would be surprised by how much personality and charm you can add to a space by simply decorating the walls!

Coastal scenes come in all shapes and sizes which is perfect for achieving a laid-back feel! Using different shaped wall art can also become the focal point of a space. This hallway nook features board and batten walls, a beautiful bench with neutral decor but where does your eye go first? The gorgeous coastal wall art right in the center of it all!

Here is a great example of wall art serving as a backdrop and not necessarily as the focal point. This coastal nook features a wooden corner table, a weathered vase, and beautiful faux florals. It’s important to remember which materials to focus on and incorporate throughout your home. Coastal home decor features a lot of wood, rattan, wicker, and bamboo. Each of these elements add warmth and texture to the space!

PRO TIP: visit your local antique shop – their unique furniture selection may surprise you!

Coastal bedroom decor isn’t limited to the colors you use, it’s about the fabrics and textures, too! Opt for light and breezy fabric such as cotton or linen. Not only does this enhance the ‘airy’ feel but it’s also much more practical, especially during the warmer months. Quilts are an amazing piece to include in your coastal bedding ensemble. They can add texture and warmth to a space without being too heavy!

This cozy coastal corner checks all of the boxes! From a neutral accent chair, to a textured blanket, and a tall faux tree — it’s all here. This space also features coastal wall art AND light and airy linen drapes. This is the perfect spot to cozy up with a good book and pretend you are relaxing in your beach house!

I have shopped around for the perfect coastal outdoor pieces and let me tell you… it wasn’t easy! I opted for a coastal blue umbrella and a similarly colored throw blanket. The wicker chairs have the perfect coastal feel. We spend a lot of time outside when it starts to warm up and I wanted it to feel as coastal outside as it does inside my home!

Spring into the season with these front porch styling finds! First impressions mean everything, even when it comes to your home. Even though it takes a little while to warm up here, that doesn’t keep me from getting in the spirit of the season! We have had a few home projects in the works, one of which involves our front yard – do you know what it could be? Keep scrolling for spring front porch finds and our big reveal!

Even though we have a railing free front porch, I never stray away from an opportunity to make a space look bigger. I love symmetry when it comes to our front porch, even during the holiday season (which will be here before we know it)! Oddly enough, styling your front porch with matching pieces can help you achieve a balanced look and will catch people’s eye without looking too busy. This balanced, cohesive look creates the illusion of a wide open space – which is exactly what I wanted!

Comfortable seating is a pivotal piece of a spring front porch styling – especially as the warmer weather approaches! Lounge in style and watch the flowers bloom from the comfort of these rocking chairs or swinging bench. Notice the matching pillows? Symmetry is EVERYWHERE on my front porch! As someone who loves all things coastal, I wanted to ensure my guests experience that coastal feel as soon as they reached my front door. You may think only blues, grays, and whites are part of the coastal color scheme but green makes an appearance in there, too!

Since it takes a while to warm up where we are, I am no stranger to faux florals and greenery! There are so many beautiful options to choose from and the best part? They never die! I do test my green thumb every now and again with real flowers and USUALLY have good luck. Using florals and greenery, real or artificial, is a great way to bring life to a front porch – especially for the spring season! I typically style my front porch and other outdoor spaces with neutral-toned planters and pots to ensure I can use them throughout the year. Some of these are investment pieces, but it is definitely worth it since they are so versatile!

We decided to bring our coastal home all the way out to the front yard! This front door view is finally complete – I can’t wait for it to serve as a festive backdrop for many more seasons to come.

Everything bloomed so quickly, you should have seen what this space looked like a week ago! Here is a great view of the blue stone walkway. A lot of planning went into this project and several mediums were considered. We chose blue stone, not only for its beautiful and rich colors/hues, but also for its durability, longevity, and natural stone look!

Choosing Colors For Your Coastal Home

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

I was so excited to show you my spring home tour, but now I’m even more excited to give you the inside scoop on each room! In my home, it’s all about those little details that make a big difference. Instead of one standout piece stealing the show, it’s the whole image that matters. I began decorating each room by incorporating colors and including dimensional pieces that kept the room neutral, yet unique. We incorporated some soft whites, subtle grays, and pops of coastal blues to set the scene. From there, it was all about textures. From throw blankets to tiled walls, navigating textures and colors for your coastal home is perfect for accentuating the overall aesthetic!

I loved enhancing every room by focusing on the intricate details that truly completed the space! Each aspect played a crucial role in achieving that fresh and cohesive atmosphere. Keep scrolling to discover how I made sure that every corner feels inviting and thoughtfully put together!

Classic Grays

When envisioning my coastal home decor, I knew I didn’t want white neutrals all over the house. Additionally, I knew I didn’t want big splashes of multiple colors either. I wanted a healthy medium between the two. That’s where my classic grays came into the picture! My living room paint is the first room you see when walking in so I wanted it to be eye-catching! The color of the walls is BM Classic Gray. I tried to match my furniture hues to this classic color to build up the room! I went with a gray-tone couch color with a stone-textured side table. These choices were not only about aesthetics; they were also about building a cohesive look that I could build on over time. By selecting items with a neutral palette and versatile textures, the room could easily adapt to any future designs or add-ons.

In my daughter’s room, I opted for classic gray features as the foundation complemented by a few different detailed prints. This choice not only provided a timeless backdrop but also allowed for versatility in styling as she grows. Striking a balance between cute and feminine while maintaining neutrality was important. The patterned wallpaper served as a subtle yet captivating backdrop, adding depth to the space without overpowering it with color. A swinging chair introduced a touch of whimsy and playfulness, quickly becoming her favorite reading spot! I added in soft hints of green and light purple for extra color while still enhancing the neutral tones!

To go along with my SW accessible beige board and batten walls, I chose a neutral-toned entryway table (similar linked here!) anchored by a large charcoal grey vase and white rustic lamp. These not only serve as a focal point but also add a touch of modern elegance to the space. It really creates a sophisticated look that sets the tone for the entire space. The charcoal grey adds depth and contrast, while the neutral tones of the table and decor provide a timeless backdrop. Together, they strike the perfect balance between contemporary flair and classic charm. Additionally, I added woven baskets to brighten up the neutral tones, but also provide convenience to the space. It’s nice to have pieces that add purpose as well as style!

White vase | Candle Holders | Wall Art | | Linen Pillow | Faux Tree | Planter | Faux Floral

In my home, we have these textured white painted walls, in SW Pure White, that I wanted to embrace when creating a style. Parts of these walls are solid white while others, like the one above my mantle, have a tiling pattern. This made it really easy, but exciting to curate a space that exudes tranquility and sophistication. On my fireplace mantle, I added white accents that effortlessly elevate the space. From ceramic vases to framed artwork, each piece adds dimension while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic with the white walls. This subtle interplay of shades creates a serene and inviting atmosphere, where every piece feels purposeful and refined. To me, this space emphasizes the beauty of simplicity, where even the simplest solid white can make a statement!

Faucet | Light Switch Cover | Towel Hooks | White Towels | Light Fixture | Gold Mirror | Soap Dispenser | Wooden Shelves | Tissue Box Cover | Vases | Shower Rod | Shower Curtain | Wall Paper

In my kids’ bathroom, I opted for a timeless color scheme that combines style and functionality. The focal point of the room is undoubtedly the wallpaper with the chic blue and white geometric pattern. I loved how it added visual interest and depth to the space! This bold choice sets the tone for the entire room, infusing it with a modern yet playful vibe. To complement the wallpaper, I incorporated little accents throughout the room like my neutral wooden shelves with black wiring that matched perfectly with my black towel hooks. These subtle touches not only enhanced the overall aesthetic but also provide practical storage solutions for keeping the space organized!

In my kitchen, the design revolves around a striking statement: the Maritime Blue-painted island by Schrock Cabinets! Against the SW Pure White-Painted cabinetry and light wood floors, the island stands out as a bold focal point. I wanted the room to have extra contrast to the white cabinets, but still keep its bright energy. The vibrant blue adds a pop of color to an otherwise neutral palette. To further enhance the cohesive look, I’ve incorporated subtle accents throughout the kitchen, like my gold light fixtures and my subtle blue rug runner. I loved adding these touches because they not only complement the island but also tie the entire space together! With its blend of modern sophistication and cozy warmth, my kitchen is a true reflection of my style and personality!

Mirrors | Planter | Faux Floral | Silver Knobs | Drawer Pull | Marble Bathroom Accessories | Light Fixture | Shower Curtain

Similarly to my kitchen, in our master bathroom, I wanted a splash of color and personality in the space! Bathrooms can sometimes be neglected because they are typically a room you go in and out of. I wanted it to blend and feel as nice as the rest of the home. The shiplap walls are painted BM simply white. Against these white walls and sleek fixtures, I added in blue cabinets to stand out as a vibrant, eye-catching feature. To complement this bold choice, I’ve opted for black-rimmed mirrors, adding a touch of contrast and sophistication to the room. I created a combination of blue cabinets and silver accents to create such a modern and stylish aesthetic. With its blend of bold colors and sleek design elements, my bathroom is a room where style meets functionality. It provides the perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation!

Writer’s note: all of the trim in our home is SW Pure White!

Spring Home Tour

Welcome to my long-awaited spring home tour! We’re springing into the season as we take a look through my springtime-styled home. Even though the days have been a bit chillier and rainier than most, it still feels like spring in each room. I’ve been adding touches here and there, like faux flowers and comfy blankets, to make each room feel fresh and cozy for the season!

The first room I focused on was the living room because it’s the first room you see when you walk in! I wanted this room to be very welcoming and not a room that you can only look at but not touch. I also didn’t want it to feel completely closed off from the rest of the house, but I wanted to make sure it felt like an individual space. To keep this laid out plan, I made sure I kept the couches along the wall, but instead of making it a U-shape with three couches, I put a swivel chair to keep an open flow to the room. I pieced the room together with cozy throws and rugs to invite you to sink in and relax. However, the ample seating ensures there’s always room for friends and family to gather and unwind!

To enhance the cozy charm of our living room, I curated a stylish accent table that perfectly complements the overall aesthetic. Crafted with a beautiful rustic lamp and dainty decor pieces, the table exudes a unique elegance! It seamlessly integrates into the space without overpowering the room. With this accent table as an eye-catching point, our living room radiates sophistication and is such a classic feature of our home!

I absolutely adore my bedroom! It truly is a relaxing sanctuary for me that I can’t get enough of. I loved how my fluffy bed turned out, but it wasn’t until recently after putting in my bench and my accent chair that it felt complete. Both pieces filled their spots perfectly and added personality and practicality to the room! I kept the color scheme the same as the rest of the house because I wanted it to be my own space but didn’t want to feel like I was away from the rest of the house. My bedroom is the perfect spot to sit and relax, away from the chaos of the day!

One of my favorite spaces I’ve decorated was my daughter’s bedroom! There is something so innocent and sweet about putting together a space for your child that makes you feel like a kid again and it is so fun! When I envisioned the space, I knew I wanted to keep it aesthetic, but still bright and pretty so that as time went on, we wouldn’t have to redo the room every year for her age. I put a patterned wallpaper along the walls to bring life to the room, but then kept the dresser white and added little accents for pops of color. I love the way the room turned out–it might be one of my favorites in the house!

One thing I wanted to avoid in my home was the little awkward spaces with nothing in them. It feels and looks strange to have a fully decorated home with a neglected space. To me, it is the perfect opportunity to add a rustic bench or decorated table to enhance the room, which is exactly what I did! I loved decorating these spaces because it didn’t take much thought of what I could use to enhance the space. I only needed to find an accent piece and build around it with a few smaller details for a finished look. It is simple yet makes the biggest difference in a room. Don’t ignore those small spaces–they deserve some love too!

When decorating a backyard patio, it can be a bit daunting because you want pieces that can withstand any weather without needing much upkeep. However, there aren’t many aesthetically pleasing options. It takes a bit of hunting to find the right pieces, but once you do, it is the best feeling! Having an outdoor space that you love is so fun because it makes you want to spend more time outside. I love having friends and family over for BBQ’s or sipping my coffee in the morning on a sunny Saturday morning. It’s so refreshing and makes taking the time to find the right pieces incredibly worth it!

You know that feeling when something completes a room? Well, that’s exactly what my chunky wool rug has done for my living room! It was the missing puzzle piece that ended up completing the cozy ambience of this room. The moment I rolled it out, it instantly added warmth and texture, making the space feel so inviting. With its subtle texture and neutral tones, it’s the perfect foundation for our cozy seating area, making movie nights and lazy Sunday mornings even more enjoyable! Not only are these chairs incredibly stylish with their unique shape and plush cushions, but they’re also unbelievably comfortable! I’m talking sink-in-and-never-want-to-get-up kind of comfort! And the best part? They swivel! It makes them super easy to move to any spot so you can move it to fit anywhere in your home! Whether I’m lounging with a cup of coffee or unwinding at the end of a long day, these chairs have quickly become the go-to spot for all things comfort and relaxation in my home. One of my favorite details in my living room is my vintage bench tucked snugly behind my couch. It’s one of those little details that adds so much character to the space. This is such a versatile piece of decor that you can build upon. I switch out its decor depending on what season we are in. I’ve decorated it with faux greenery and neutral books ,but will also switch it out with a throw blanket and a couple of decorative pillows. Its weathered wood and timeless design add a rustic touch to the room, creating a perfect balance against the modern lines of the furniture. It’s amazing how something so small can make such a big impact on the overall ambiance!

It can take more time to style than one would think. One of the most loved items this March has been my patterned vase, which lives on one of my kitchen shelves. It matches perfectly with faux florals and adds so much color and texture to the space. These pieces have so much versatility and allow endless creativity and decor options with minimal pieces!

Brighten Your Space: Top Lighting Finds for Every Home

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

Lighting is the absolute one thing that I will always splurge on. It isn’t only a statement piece in my home, it’s an investment. Light fixtures and lamps are rarely swapped out in your home so why not spend a little more money on something you know will last? Sometimes, lighting can seem underwhelming, but statement lighting is an amazing way to add personality and charm to your home! I made sure that all of the lighting in my home adds to the warm, ambient space that I have created over the years. I am a firm believer that a well-lit home can really transform any space into a cozy and inviting atmosphere!

Globe Pendant Light | Similar Modern Kitchen Stool | Round Charcuterie Board | Textured Planter | Rectangular Pedestal

My kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in my home! It’s the place where everyone gathers throughout the day unintentionally whether it’s to get a snack, hang out with friends, do homework, or more. It was important to me when I was decorating this space that it was simple, yet chic and bright. It was relatively simple to envision the tabletop decor, but I wanted to make sure the light fixtures blended in perfectly without taking too much of the room. These globe pendants were perfect! They catch attention, but don’t overcrowd the room and will never go out of style!

Double Sconce Light | Drawer Pull Handle | Rounded Rectangle Mirror | Marble Bathroom Accessories | Table Lamp | White Decorative Box | Round Mirror | Textured Vase | Faux Greenery | Similar Baskets | Blanket

There are so many different light fixtures that come in a variety of styles and designs, ranging from sleek and modern to classic and elegant. My top favorites are wall sconces and decorative table lamps! Not only do they provide a warm ambiance to a room, but they truly can transform a space. These double wall sconces that I put into one of our bathrooms keep the modern atmosphere, but still maintain a clean and aesthetic atmosphere without being too plain! Similarly, our table lamp that lives on our living room console easily elevates the space. It is a beautiful neutral statement piece that catches your eye, but doesn’t clash with the rest of the decor!

Have you ever considered using picture lights to enhance your wall decor? Not only do they look elegant and add to the overall decor, but they’re also a great investment that truthfully will never go out of style. By providing the right amount of light to highlight specific areas of your art, these lights can add a touch of sophistication to your walls. It is such a simple yet effective way to elevate your home decor. I highly recommend giving picture lights a try. Trust me, it’s the small details that truly make a big impact!

Cream Sectional | Cotton Drapes | Dark Rustic Lamp | Textured Suede Pillow | Embroidered Pillow | Boucle Pillow | Table Clock | Wood Gallery Frames | Table Lamp | Heather Square Pillow | Knit Throw | Decorative Bowl | White Beaded Vase | Faux Floral Stem

One of the keys to selecting pieces that will last is to keep it simple and easy to match. It’s one of the reasons I LOVE neutrals! They are so easy to build upon with other home decor finds or to stand alone on their own as a statement piece. When choosing light fixtures, it is very easy to find a piece that is much louder than you envisioned. Those pieces can be fun in the moment, but it’s hard to make them last without getting tired of them. I recommend keeping simple colors with a pattern or texture for a bit of diversity to the piece. It will keep it unique, but won’t hurt the layout of a room!

I have been loving my bathroom sconces! It complements the space so well and is effortlessly timeless. When searching for lighting that suits your home, remember to find pieces that YOU love which may not always be what is trending at the time. It is something that is in your control that represents your taste! There isn’t a set way to decorate a home so treat it like your open canvas in every way. You want your home to be a timeless reflection of you that makes you comfortable. It’s important to take the time to find pieces that will never go out of your style!

How to Choose Wall Art for Your Space

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

Choosing art for your home doesn’t always come naturally. For some, it may even be the most challenging part of tying a room together.  You may wonder how to choose the right size of art or how to incorporate colors from your home into art pieces.  This can feel overwhelming and make it very confusing on where to begin. But, once you have the right inspiration and vision of what to do, it can transform your home in some of the best ways!

Wood Gallery Frames | Faux Olive Tree | Ivory Pillow | Embroidered Blue Pillow | Lumbar Pillow | Oversized Blue Pillow | Textured Pillow | Wool Rug | Coffee Table

Consider viewing your walls as a blank canvas. It’s a great way to showcase your personality! Art is a reflection of your taste. It exists to remind us where we’ve been, and what we love, and it reflects the beauty we are drawn to. Though decorating walls in a home can quickly seem like an overwhelming task, it can become a way to define your personal style.

Big Sur Painting | Nantucket Painting | Wooden Picture Ledge | Side Table | Textured Light Blue Pillow | Patterned Pillow | Dark Blue Pillow | Coastal Decor Image | Faux Fur Pillow | Oatmeal Striped Pillow | Wooden Dining Bench | Similar Fringe Throw Blanket

One of the main things to consider when decorating your walls is the amount of wall space you have available. If you have a larger wall to fill or want one statement piece to anchor your space, look for large-scale art. These pieces have the potential to make a really big impact on a space. Another creative and visually appealing way to decorate is creating a gallery wall. It showcases multiple pieces of art of any size and add a personal touch to your space. This can be a great way to add dimension and features to a room!

Gold Wall Art | Black Mirror | Soap Dispenser | Cabinet Handles | Cabinet Knobs |

Dip-Dyed Stools | Bath Mat | Bamboo Window Shade

Don’t forget to use what you have when decorating your home! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve repurposed or reused an item in a different way than I intended to, especially when decorating with wall art. One of the ways to do this is by swapping out old frames with new images to create a whole new look. It’s very easy, affordable, and makes a big difference in your home!

Field Frame | Wicker Table Lamp | Beach Painting | Dorset Painting | Pendant Light |

High Back Dining Chair | Ceramic Table Vase | Faux Eucalyptus Stems

Another thing to consider is the colors that are already living within the rooms you are trying to add to. It can be very easy to put decoration into a room that clashes with other objects which can hurt the overall aesthetic. This is why I like to stick to neutrals with slight pops of color such as gold frames or greenery-filled images. It makes it easy to notice the details of my rooms, but isn’t too distracting that it sticks out in a negative way.

The biggest thing to remember when picking out wall art that fits is to trust your instincts. It is something that is in your control that represents your taste! There isn’t a set formula for grouping art together, so enjoy the process of trying something new in your space!

Styling Faux Stems & Vases

Some find greenery and florals intimidating because of the constant care that has to be put into plants to keep them alive and thriving. What is the answer to those problems? Faux stems and greenery! There is no shame in decorating your space with (fake) plants! Personally, I love using faux pieces in my home, because they can be easily switched to match the season, and I don’t have to worry about taking care of them every day.

Floral Stems | Vases | Art

Since the fireplace mantle is seen as the “center” of your home, it deserves to be decorated and cared for as the seasons go on. I’ve started to switch my winter stems, greenery, and vases for my lighter spring pieces to bring in the airy and fresh feeling of springtime. I decided to style my mantle with white floral stems and a matching vase set. I love that vase sets can be styled together, separate, one with flowers, one without flowers, and still look fantastic!

Floral Stems | Floral Branch | Vase | Console Table | Similar Baskets | Lamp | Mirror | Clock | Candle Sticks | Matches | Pillow | Decorative Box

Console tables can be tricky to style, because you don’t want your seasonal pieces to be too overbearing but also want to welcome the upcoming season. I decided to not change the vase on my console table but instead to switch my winter floral branch to large floral stems. It’s crazy how such a quick and easy change can make such a huge difference in the overall feel of your space.

If you know me, you know I absolutely love decorating with benches. Since this corner space doesn’t have an end table, I went with a faux tree instead of stems and a vase. I think it is great to have variety in your home’s greenery, because it creates such wonderful dimension and styled elegance to your space.

Faux Leaves | Floral Stems | Vase | Similar Basket | Wall Art | Wall Light

Decorating a hallway is a feat on its own, because hallways can be a very complicated area in your home to work with. If your home is similar to mine, and you have a “lonely corner,” a corner table can easily be styled with a vase, stems, and even a basket. Since I rarely change out the wall art in my home, I make sure to switch the stems and greenery in my vases to fit the season.

Faux Leaves | Larger Vase | Dried Florals | Smaller Vase | Lamp | Similar Baskets | Throw Blanket | Mirror | Decorative Box | Framed Art

The entryway of your home is the handshake for any guest who walks through. I always want the entryway to feel welcoming and homey but still match the seasonal decor throughout the house. For this space, I love changing out the stems and greenery. I purposefully choose vases that can easily be transitioned throughout the year with the perfect faux pieces!

How to Get That Fluffy Bed Look

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

I’m often asked how I make my bed look so fluffy and cozy… and to be honest, I have a few tricks that I use to help achieve this comforting look! I’ve gathered my go-to tactics and products to share, so you too can have a fluffy bed to jump into at the end of the day!

Bed Frame | Quilt & Shams | Throw Blanket | Vase | Throw Pillow | Wall Art | Sheets | Mattress Pad

Sheets, sheets, sheets- something I am VERY picky about! It’s taken some time to hunt down my favorite sheets, and I’ve discovered that the Brooklinen Classic Percale Core Sheet Set is the one for me! They are on the pricier side, but I tried them one time and I knew those were the only sheets I would use from now on!

On a side note, never underestimate the importance of a mattress protector. Mattresses are a pricey investment and having the proper protection is essential for them to last longer. Personally, I love the ComfortCloud Mattress Pad and want to put one in every bedroom of the house.

Quilt & Shams | Similar Lamp | Pitcher Vase | Floral Stems | Bench | Rug | Nightstand | Wall Art | Throw Pillow | Bed Frame | Linen Duvet | Throw Blanket

The key components for a fluffy bed are: a duvet, quilt, and throw blanket. This may seem like a lot of layers (especially if you sleep hot like me), but I love the soft coziness of a duvet. The duvet insert I like the most and recommend is the Classic Down Insert from Pottery Barn. It’s lightweight enough to use in the summer, but still keeps you warm and snug in winter. The “cherry on top” of the bed is adding a quilt, although this is more for looks because I can’t sleep with all those layers.

Quilt & Shams | Similar Lamp | Pitcher Vase | Floral Stems | Bench | Rug | Nightstand | Wall Art | Throw Pillow | Bed Frame | Linen Duvet | Throw Blanket | Lumbar Pillow | Sleep Pillows | Duvet Insert

For sleeping pillows, I use two standard pillows for a full or queen bed, and three standard or two king pillows for a king-size bed. After layering your sleeping pillows in the back, I love adding three euro pillows to a king-sized bed and then layering two king-sized pillow shams. To top it all off, I use a lumbar pillow or two 22×22 pillows in front.

Decorative Boxes | Candle | Linen Duvet

Another way you can get that really fluffy bed is to use two duvet inserts instead of only one. To protect your duvet inserts, I recommend using a linen duvet cover. I love linen because it never has to be ironed or steamed. Your duvet cover can be switched throughout the year to match the season or new color palette of your space. I love the comfy casual look that they provide, and (an added plus) linen duvets keep getting softer and softer with age!

For the final fluffy touch, I add a knitted throw or blanket loosely at the foot of the bed. It finishes off the bed and ties everything together for that extra cozy feel. I typically use a full or queen-size blanket for my king-size bed.

Decorative Boxes | Candle | Book | Nightstand | Similar Lamp | Pitcher Vase | Floral Stems

No bedroom is complete without a styled nightstand! The small décor pieces used on your nightstand (florals, greenery, candles, etc.) can easily be switched to coordinate with the current season. The star of the nightstand show is the lamp, it may take some time to find the perfect piece, but when you do it is SO worth it! I also like to use stylish boxes if your nightstand has a bottom shelf because they’re a decorative way to store any small items, like your phone or laptop charger!

Cozy Winter Home Decor

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

The constant hustle of the holiday season is over, and all of the holiday decor is stored away until next season, but now the house feels “empty”. There are several ways to make your home feel “full” again while still representing winter until spring decor makes its debut. Utilizing transitional decor pieces in your home allows you to transform your festive fair into a timeless oasis.

A Cozy Living Area

During the cold winter months, nothing makes a home feel cozier than mountains of throw pillows and soft blankets piled on the couch. To carry the winter season into your living area, without making it obvious, add a mixture of blue and neutral-toned pieces. This combination creates the perfect scenery for a cozy winter home and easily transitions to the spring season.

Kitchen Decor

Wicker Lamp | Similar Clay Vase | Floral Stems | Art Piece | Marble Box

By adding darker-toned pieces with faux greens and textured items, you’ll have a simple yet sophisticated display for winter. If you want to enhance the cozy feeling of your kitchen, adding a neutral lamp to your counter space is a perfect way to make it happen.

Consoles & Side Tables

When the strands of garland come down, you can keep the branches out for a while to repurpose. I usually keep these out until mid-February, because they are fantastic filler pieces. One of my favorite ways to style Norfolk pine stems is in a vase or bowl to add a touch of winter to your console. Pinecones are also a great addition to your winter-to-spring decor. With the help of a large decorative bowl, you can beautifully display an arrangement of pinecones and garland.

Console Table | Decorative Bowl | Pine Stems | Ceramic Vase | Beaded Decor Piece

A versatile piece that can be used throughout the year is faux stems. By switching out the vase, adding more stems to the display, or small decorative pieces surrounding the stems, they can be transitioned for any and every season. During the winter months, I love displaying berry stems in a beautiful chic vase because only a few branches will create the perfect winter look. To transition these stems closer to spring, add a few stems of greenery to create a full look.

The “Handshake” of Your Home

Neutral Lamp | Glass Vase | Mirror | Pine Stems | Floral Stems | Ceramic Vase | Ottomans | Similar Console Table | Decorative Box | Framed Art | Similar Throw Blanket

The entryway is the “handshake” to your home and is an easy space to display your transitional decor pieces. By combining my tips of cozy textures, lamps, darker-toned items, and greenery and faux stems together, you will have the perfect winter-to-spring “handshake” to greet all of your guests who come over to visit.

Trending in 2024 | A Return to Sophisticated Comfort

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

I cannot believe I’m typing these words…but it’s 2024! With the post-Christmas clean-up blues setting in, I started to think to myself about the year ahead. More specifically, I wondered what 2024 home trends will look like. I always get excited thinking about the new ways people style their homes and wanted to share with you some home trends I’m forecasting in 2024!

Home Décor

In 2024, I think we will start seeing a turn towards more neutrals. I expect people to utilize different materials to show depth in their space such as plush fabrics and lots of texture. I believe the minimalist, “less is more” approach will ring true all year long. But, I believe we’ll notice a more intentional shift in the variety and diversity of the textured materials.

Rug | Bench | White Quilt | Chunky Throw | Similar Wall Art | Bedside Tables | Lamps | Lumbar Pillow

Furnishings | Mixing in Darker Materials and Fabrics

I love light, bright, and airy coastal decor as much as the next person. But, I do see the value in blending in darker colors, woods, and materials to create a more cozy, inviting space. In 2024, I expect there will be a shift to darker wood tones to mix with the lighter pieces we see in coastal decor. Homeowners will look to invest in furnishings and finishes that will stand the test of time. Performance fabrics that will hold up to children and pets. As a result, we may see more solid wood flooring instead of LVP.

Home Layouts and Floor Plans | A Move Away from Wide-Open Spaces

We’ve been seeing this in recent new home layouts and floorplans, but buyers are moving away from the big open room concept and are looking for some separation of space. This helps to create that cozy, comfortable coastal vibe that makes your home feel like a true sanctuary.

Walls, Ceilings, and Trim

In 2024, we will see a lot of rich, earthy tones. There will be a trend to paint entire rooms the same color… ceiling, trim and walls.  People are moving away from grays as well as all-white walls, ceilings, and trim.

We will also continue to see lots of wallpaper and wall molding!  I love adding wallpaper to bathrooms and bedrooms as it can show your personality. Adding the vertical shiplap in our primary bedroom was such a great decision. It adds some dimension without overtaking the space.

As we lead into 2024, I cannot wait to see what home trends unfold. I am looking forward to another year of perfecting my style, purchasing intentional pieces, and continuing to create a space where my family and friends can spend time together. Cheers to 2024!

New Year, New Home: Refresh & Organize Your Space

The New Year is right around the corner, and there is no better time than now to refresh and organize your home! I love the feeling of relaxation and stress relief that comes with having a clean and orderly space, and I cannot wait to help you feel the same way!

Everyone has that one drawer in their kitchen that could use a little extra TLC, especially in the organization department. In my case, it was the miscellaneous utensil drawer that houses everything from baking whisks to grilling tongs and meat thermometers. I love that these bamboo drawer organizers are expandable, so I could find a “home” for every item.

There’s only so much your trusty vacuum can do, and sometimes you need that extra boost to truly get your space cleaned and refreshed. The rage that the BISSELL Little Green Machine created was well deserved because my carpets and upholstery look brand new!

The plastic baggy drawer. A chaotic jumble of loose bags, ripped cardboard containers, and multiple boxes of the size-sized baggy opened…no more! Never in a million years would I think a plastic bag organizer would make such a difference, but here we are. It is so easy to keep each size together, and know when certain sizes are running low and need to be added to the grocery list!

. . .
